Remote proctoring lets capable candidates anywhere in the world sit the examination without travelling to a centre, while preserving full integrity. You take the exam on your own device under live and/or recorded supervision, with your identity verified before you begin.

Common questions
What if my internet drops mid-exam?
There are procedures for genuine technical interruptions so candidates aren't unfairly affected. Follow the on-screen and support guidance if it happens.
Do I have to be recorded?
Supervision may be live and/or recorded. You're informed before recording begins, and data is used solely to protect exam integrity.
What ID do I need?
A current, government-recognised photo ID whose name matches your registration. This applies whether you sit in a test centre or online, and it is part of how the integrity of the credential is protected — making sure the person who earns the result is the person who sat the assessment. Exact requirements are confirmed when you book.

Pass the check-in first time
Nearly all remote-sitting problems occur in the first fifteen minutes. Four preparations remove almost all of them:
A private, quiet room
You need a space nobody will enter for the duration. Interruptions are logged — and disrupt your concentration more than anything else.
Device & connection
Test webcam, microphone and bandwidth on the machine and network you will actually use — at the same time of day as your sitting, when household or office load is realistic.
Identity documents
Have the ID matching your enrolment name within reach; check-in starts with identity verification.
A clear workspace
Only permitted items on the desk. The room scan goes quickly when there is nothing to discuss.
What supervision actually involves
After identity checks and a webcam scan of your room, you sit the exam under live and/or recorded supervision. The proctor's job is to keep conditions equivalent to a test centre: they can pause the session, ask you to re-scan the room, or intervene if the examination rules are being breached.
Flags are not verdicts. Unusual events — a noise, a dropped connection, someone entering the room — are recorded and reviewed by people afterwards, in context. A genuine interruption honestly handled is an incident to resolve, not an accusation. Deliberate breaches are dealt with under the misconduct process, exactly as they would be at a centre.
Recordings, adjustments and drop-outs
What happens to the recordings?
They are used for examination-integrity purposes only, handled under the privacy policy, and retained no longer than those purposes require.
Can I have accommodations in a remote sitting?
Yes — approved accommodations apply across modalities. Request them when you book so they can be arranged in advance.
What if my connection drops?
Reconnect and follow the proctor's instructions. The incident is logged and handled fairly — including a rescheduled sitting where the failure was genuine and material.
What is recorded, and your explicit consent
Because remote proctoring captures sensitive personal information, we tell you exactly what is collected and ask for your separate, explicit consent before your first recorded session — not bundled with unrelated policies. You may decline or withdraw consent, though a proctored sitting cannot proceed without it.
Exactly what is captured
Webcam video, microphone audio, a scan of your room, and your on-screen activity for the duration of the exam; plus, at check-in, an image of your government-issued photo ID and a photo of you for identity comparison.
Lawful basis
The recording and identity checks are processed on your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR, and — where laws such as the Illinois BIPA apply — under a written biometric release. The data is used only to verify identity and protect exam integrity.
How long it is kept
Proctoring recordings are retained for 12 months after the exam to allow integrity review and appeals, then permanently deleted. Government-ID images and check-in photos are deleted within 90 days of the exam.
Who can see it
Access is limited to the proctoring vendor and authorised PCI integrity reviewers on a need-to-know basis, under a data-processing agreement. It is never sold. Full detail is in the data-protection policy.
