Certification Integrity.
The safeguards that make a PCL-AI credential something you can trust.
Overview
Integrity is the whole point of certification. PCI protects it end to end — secure exams, verified identity, impartial decisions, enforced ethics and a verifiable registry — so a credential earned honestly always means something.
Integrity is the whole point of a certification body. A credential is only as good as the trust behind it, so the systems that protect the exam, verify identity, separate training from assessment and confirm each credential are not administrative details — they are the product.
These protections are why an employer can rely on a PCI credential without re-testing a candidate themselves, and why a holder's achievement is not devalued by anyone gaming the system. Maintaining that trust is a continuous responsibility, not a box ticked once.
At a glance
How integrity is protected
- Examination security and remote proctoring
- Identity verification before every exam
- Impartial, evidence-based decisions
- Enforced code of ethics and verifiable credentials
Why it matters
PCI applies this consistently and documents what it does, so the approach can be checked and improved. Final detail is published as the institute matures.
How integrity is protected
Integrity is the whole point of certification, so PCI protects it end to end — from the exam itself to the credential you can verify afterwards.
Secure examinations
Exam content and delivery are protected at every stage.
Verified identity
Checks designed to ensure the right person earns the credential.
Independent decisions
Outcomes rest on assessed competence, not influence or relationships.
Verifiable credentials
Each credential can be confirmed against PCI.
Common questions
How do I know a credential is genuine?
Through verification against PCI’s registry.
Are decisions impartial?
Yes — structurally separated from training and made on evidence.
Is misconduct taken seriously?
Yes — under the misconduct and sanctions policies.
Why this matters
A certification is only worth holding if it is genuinely hard to fake. That is why every PCI certification rests on an independent, competence-based assessment, a clear standard, and a strict separation between training and the certification decision — so a pass means the same thing for everyone who earns it, and an employer can rely on it without re-testing the person themselves.
PCI builds in the open: candid about what is in place today, designed around the ISO/IEC 17024 personnel-certification principles, and careful never to imply recognition it does not yet hold. That honesty is not a caveat — it is the foundation a credible credential is built on.

From exam item to verified credential
Integrity is not a single control but an unbroken chain. Break any link and every other link is devalued — which is why each stage carries its own safeguard.
Item authoring
Questions are written and peer-reviewed by subject-matter experts under confidentiality obligations, mapped to the published competency standard.
Secure delivery
Identity is verified before every sitting and examinations are supervised — so the result belongs to the person named on it.
Defensible pass mark
The standard is fixed by formal standard-setting, not a round number chosen for optics — the same bar for every candidate, every sitting.
Impartial decision
Certification decisions rest on assessed evidence, made by people free of conflicts and structurally separate from anyone who trained the candidate.
Verifiable record
Each award is recorded so that employers can confirm holder, credential and status — and so that revocations actually take effect.
Enforced conduct
The obligation continues after the exam. Confirmed misconduct has consequences, which protects everyone who earned the credential honestly.
Training and assessment, kept apart
One structural rule does more for integrity than any camera: the people who prepare candidates do not judge them. Exam preparation and practice live on the Certuvo platform; assessment and certification decisions sit with PCI under its impartiality arrangements. No revenue argument, training relationship or personal connection is permitted to touch a certification outcome. It is the same reason appeals are heard by people who took no part in the original decision — the judgement and the interest are never allowed to sit in the same chair.
What can be checked, and how
A credential you cannot verify is a claim, not a credential. PCI's public registry is live: employers can verify a claimed PCL-AI in seconds on the verification page, and credential verification explains what a confirmation covers — the holder's name, the credential, its current status and its cycle. A claimed PCL-AI that the registry cannot confirm should be treated as unverified and reported to the institute.
