Common questions
What ID do I need?
A current, government-recognised photo ID whose name matches your registration. This applies whether you sit in a test centre or online, and it is part of how the integrity of the credential is protected — making sure the person who earns the result is the person who sat the assessment. Exact requirements are confirmed when you book.
Is my ID data protected?
Yes — handled under the data-protection policy.
What if someone impersonates a candidate?
Impersonation is serious misconduct under the misconduct policy.
Why this matters
A certification is only worth holding if it is genuinely hard to fake. That is why the PCL-AI rests on an independent, competence-based assessment, a clear standard, and a strict separation between training and the certification decision — so a pass means the same thing for everyone who earns it, and an employer can rely on it without re-testing the person themselves.
PCI builds in the open: candid about what is in place today, designed around the ISO/IEC 17024 personnel-certification principles, and careful never to imply recognition it does not yet hold. That honesty is not a caveat — it is the foundation a credible credential is built on.

Preparing for the identity check
The identity check is quick when your documents are in order, and stressful when they are not. A few minutes of preparation removes almost every problem we see:
- Check that the name on your enrolment record matches your photo ID exactly — including middle names, hyphens and name ordering.
- Make sure the document is current. An expired ID cannot be accepted, however clearly it identifies you.
- For remote examinations, have the physical document at your desk before check-in begins; you will present it to camera as part of the remote proctoring workflow.
- Re-read the examination rules the day before you sit, so nothing in the check-in sequence comes as a surprise.
If your details don't match
Names change, and documents do not always agree — marriage, transliteration between scripts, or a middle name present on one document and absent from another. None of this needs to become an exam-day problem if it is raised in advance. Contact PCI as soon as you spot a discrepancy, so the record can be aligned or a supporting document agreed before you sit.
My ID is in a different script from my enrolment name. What should I do?
Tell us before exam day. We will agree in advance how the two will be matched, so the proctor is expecting exactly what you present.
What happens if the check fails on the day?
If identity cannot be verified, the examination cannot proceed — the check exists to protect every candidate's result. That is why we ask you to resolve known discrepancies ahead of time rather than at check-in.
What happens to your ID data
Identity verification is deliberately minimal: we check the document, confirm the match, and record that verification took place. Identity data is used for that purpose and handled under the data protection policy, with retention governed by the published records schedule. It is not repurposed for marketing, and it is not shared beyond what examination delivery genuinely requires. If you have questions about exactly what is held after your exam, ask — a straight question about your own data always gets a straight answer. The same minimalism applies during the check itself: the proctor confirms the match and moves on — the identity step is a gate, not an interview, and for most candidates it is over in moments.
