We are a founding-stage certification body. Rather than imply otherwise, here is an honest account of what is established, what is still in development, and how we intend to earn recognition.
What is established today
Legal entity
Incorporated as Project Controls Institute Global, Inc., a Delaware Non-Stock Corporation.
Governance framework
Published governance, ethics, impartiality, conflict-of-interest, appeals and complaints policies.
Draft standard & BOK
A competency standard and Body of Knowledge, First Edition — thirteen domains, weighted 40/40/20 across project accounting & finance, project management principles and governed AI.
Examination design
A defined exam structure and a governed-AI approach — “AI proposes, the professional disposes.”
Student systems
Enrolment, membership, payment and student-communication systems built and ready to deploy.
What is still in development
ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation
Not yet. Our framework is developed with reference to 17024 principles; formal accreditation is a roadmap goal.

501(c)(3) determination

Our accreditation roadmap
Phase 1 — Standard & governance
In progress. Publish the competency standard and Body of Knowledge; finalise governance and policies; appoint the certification, standards and impartiality committees.
Phase 2 — Exam validation & pilot
Job-task analysis with practitioners; item development and SME review; a defensible standard-setting study to fix the pass mark; a founding pilot cohort.
Phase 3 — Operational readiness
Live credential registry and public verification; integrated proctoring and identity verification; recertification/CPD tracking; independent management-system review.
Phase 4 — Accreditation application
Apply for ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation; address findings; accreditation decision and ongoing surveillance.

Questions to ask any certification body
The clearest way to understand this page is to use it. These are the questions worth asking of any credentialing organisation — including PCI. We publish our answers precisely so they can be checked.
Who governs it?
Look for a published governance framework and committees with independent majorities — not just a brand and a payment page.
Is training separate from assessment?
A body that sells the course and marks the exam has a conflict. Ask how the two are structurally separated.
How is the pass mark set?
A defensible standard comes from a formal standard-setting study, not a round number chosen for pass-rate optics.
Can credentials be verified?
If nobody can check a claim, the credential is a certificate file. Ask what verification exists — and respect an honest answer.
What happens on misconduct?
Published investigation, discipline and appeals policies show whether integrity is enforced or merely asserted.
Is status stated plainly?
Accreditation, recognition, tax status: the claims should be specific, current and checkable. Vagueness is an answer too.
What early candidates should weigh
Joining a founding-stage body is a considered decision, and it deserves a candid framing. What you get: early access to a standard you can help shape through consultation and the pilot, a credential designed around governed AI from the start rather than retrofitted, and a body whose policies you can read in full before committing. What you accept: the credential precedes external recognition, the registry and some processes are still in build, and accreditation is a roadmap goal rather than a fact. PCI's commitment in return is the one this page embodies — status stated plainly, no fabricated proof, and no claim that runs ahead of reality.
How you will see us move
Progress will be demonstrated, not announced. Watch for these, in public:
- Named appointments on the leadership page as individuals are confirmed and consent to publication;
- The accreditation status page updated as each roadmap phase completes;
- Examination statistics published once there is a meaningful cohort;
- Annual reports on the institute's activity and governance.
If an item on this page stops being true, the page changes. That is the standing commitment.
