The PCI Pakistan chapter is being established to connect project-controls professionals and share local practice under the global PCL-AI standard.

Is the Pakistan chapter active yet?
It is being established. PCI builds in the open; chapter registration is open, so you can be part of it from the start.
Do I need to be certified to take part?
No. Chapters are open to everyone with an interest in project controls — practising professionals, people moving into the field, and students alike. You do not need to hold a PCI credential, or even to be working towards it, to take part. Chapters are about community, learning and connection; certification is a separate, independent process, and many members get involved in a chapter long before they ever sit the exam.
What will the Pakistan chapter do?

A chapter in formation, stated plainly
PCI chapters are member-led communities, not franchises. Each begins as a chapter in formation: a founding group of local professionals, a named coordinator, and a simple charter under PCI’s governance framework. We list a chapter as established only when it has held its first sessions and adopted the charter — we do not publish member counts or activity we cannot evidence.
What a chapter in this region will do
Peer sessions on real project-controls problems; study circles for PCL-AI candidates; honest conversation about how governed AI is changing planning, cost and risk work locally; and a bridge between practitioners and employers in this region. Sessions may be in person, online, or both — the founding group decides.

What controls work looks like in Pakistan
Much of Pakistan’s major project work is internationally financed and delivered by joint ventures between local and overseas contractors. That shapes the controls role in specific ways. Reporting often has to satisfy two audiences at once — the client organisation and the financing institution — each with its own formats, cost breakdowns and review cycles. Schedules on hydropower and river works are governed by seasonal windows, so a slipped activity can cost months rather than weeks. And with expenditure split across local and foreign currency, forecasting discipline matters more than any particular software.
One dataset, two reports
Keep a single auditable schedule and cost dataset, and derive lender and client reports from it. Maintaining two versions of the truth is the fastest way to lose credibility with both audiences.
Currency-aware forecasting
Separate local- and foreign-currency cost elements in the estimate and the forecast, and state your exchange-rate assumptions explicitly so reviewers can test them — see forecasting fundamentals.
Seasonal schedule logic
River diversion windows, monsoon shutdowns and mountain access constraints belong in the schedule logic as defensible constraints — not as hidden padding scattered through activity durations.
Building a project-controls career from Pakistan
I work on Gulf projects from Pakistan — does the credential still apply?
Yes. The PCL-AI is one global standard, and many practitioners based in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad serve programmes in the Gulf remotely or on rotation. The competencies assessed — planning, cost, forecasting, risk and governed AI — are the same wherever the project sits. Does experience on CPEC, hydropower or water projects count towards eligibility?
Relevant project-controls experience is what matters, not the sector label. Time spent planning, cost-controlling or forecasting on energy, water or transport schemes is exactly the kind of work the eligibility requirements describe. Document your role, your responsibilities, and the controls work you personally performed rather than the project’s headline scope.
Can I complete the whole pathway from Pakistan?
Yes. Enrolment, study and the examination are all online, with remote proctoring, so you need a reliable connection and a quiet space rather than travel to a test centre. Current fees are shown at enrolment.
