Each lookup checks the live PCI register. Examined credential IDs use the format PCI-PCLAI-YYYY-NNNNNN (PFLAI/PMLAI for the finance and delivery credentials); honorary awards use PCI-HON-YYYY-NNNN and are always labelled as honorary recognitions, never as a passed examination.

Common questions

Can I verify a credential now?

Yes. The lookup above checks the live PCI register. A PCL-AI credential shows the holder’s name as issued, its status (Active, Expired or Revoked) and dates; an honorary award is clearly labelled as an honorary recognition, not an examined credential.

What will verification confirm?

That a credential was genuinely issued by PCI, what it certifies, and whether it remains current — so an employer or client can trust it without re-testing the holder.

How will digital credentials work?

They will be verifiable against PCI, shareable on a profile or CV, and tamper-evident — with the holder controlling where they are displayed.

Is PCI accredited?

PCI is building toward formal accreditation rather than claiming it. The credential and its processes are designed around the ISO/IEC 17024 framework. We state our status plainly and do not imply recognition we do not yet hold — that honesty is part of how a credible certification body earns trust.

For hiring teams

Building verification into recruitment

Verification works best as a routine step in the hiring process, not an afterthought when something feels wrong. A simple pattern for recruiters and PMO leads:

Ask for the credential ID up front. Make it a field on the application form. Genuine holders can supply it instantly.
Verify at shortlist, not at offer. Checking earlier costs nothing and avoids unwinding a late-stage decision.
Record what you checked. Keep the ID, the date and the status returned in the recruitment file — that record protects you if the claim is later questioned.
Re-verify on long engagements. A credential valid at hire can lapse mid-contract; a periodic re-check keeps reliance honest.
Never rely on a certificate image alone. Documents can be edited; the registry record is the authoritative source.

For credential holders

Make your credential easy to verify

Verification protects holders as much as employers: the easier you make it to confirm your status, the more value the letters carry. Good practice:

Quote the ID wherever you use the post-nominal — on your CV and professional profiles, formatted exactly as issued.
Share the badge link, not a screenshot. Your digital credential is designed to be checked at source; an image invites the doubt a link removes.
Keep your name consistent. If your legal name changes, ask PCI to update the record so lookups continue to match.
Stay current. A lapsed credential shows as expired to anyone who checks — start recertification well before your cycle ends.
Report misuse. If someone claims your ID, or a credential they do not hold, tell us. Acting on misrepresentation protects every legitimate holder.

Reading a verification result

Active means the named individual holds the credential now, within its validity window and CPD obligations. Expired means it was earned but the cycle lapsed without recertification. Revoked means it was withdrawn under the sanctions policy — treat any current claim to it as misrepresentation.

Verify the ID exactly as printed (format PCI-PCLAI-YYYY-NNNNNN, with PFLAI/PMLAI for the finance and delivery credentials); names alone are not identifiers. A claim you cannot verify here is not a PCI credential, whatever the certificate looks like — and we ask that suspected misrepresentation be reported, for every legitimate holder’s sake. This checker is the authoritative source for PCI records — both examined credentials and honorary awards. An ID beginning PCI-HON is an Honorary Fellow (PCI) recognition, clearly labelled honorary and never a passed examination.
