Book your exam.

Sit the PCL-AI — or the AIPC specialist certificate — online with remote proctoring, or at a test centre. Here's how it works, what to expect, and how to prepare.

How it works

From eligibility to result.

1

Confirm eligibility

Apply via the experience route, or enter through the PCI Foundation pathway. Eligibility is confirmed during enrolment.

2

Choose & schedule

Pick online remote-proctored or a test centre, then book a slot that suits your time zone.

3

Sit the exam

Scenario-based items plus an applied analytical taskverning AI outputs.

4

Get your result

Scored against a criterion-referenced cut score. On passing, you earn a verifiable digital credential.

What to expect

Tested on judgement, not recall.

The exam assesses how you apply, analyse and evaluate — not how much you can memorise. Items are written at applied cognitive levels, set in realistic project situations, and AI is assessed in every section as well as in the dedicated AI core.

The standard is a criterion-referenced cut score set by a modified-Angoff panel, so you're measured against the competence required — not a curve.

Rescheduling & integrity

Reschedule within the published window. Remote proctoring and secure test centres protect the integrity of the credential for everyone who holds it. Reasonable accommodations are available — just ask when you book.

Scheduling

How exam booking works

Your exam fee opens a 12-month scheduling window from the payment date — the deadline is shown in your confirmation email and dashboard. Book when you are ready; there is no advantage to booking early beyond securing your preferred slot.

Before booking, read the examination rules and the candidate handbook, and check exam structure so the format holds no surprises. Need adjustments? Submit the accommodation request before you book, so approved arrangements attach to your sitting.

Before exam day

Prepare the practical things early

Most exam-day problems are practical, not academic — and almost all are preventable in the week before. Four things are worth sorting well ahead of your appointment.

Identity documents

Have the ID you registered with ready, with a name that matches your enrolment record. Mismatches are the most common cause of check-in delays.

Technology check (remote)

Test your device, webcam, microphone and connection in the room you will actually use, at the time of day you will sit. See Remote Proctoring for what check-in involves.

Know the rules

Read the examination rules before the day. Knowing what is and isn't permitted removes anxiety at check-in — and prevents accidental breaches.

Accommodations, early

If you need adjustments, request them through the special accommodations process when you book, not on the day. Approved accommodations are arranged in advance.

On the day

From check-in to finish

Arrive — or log in — early. Check-in verifies your identity and, for remote sittings, your environment; a proctor or invigilator then supervises the sitting under the same rules regardless of modality. If something goes wrong — a fire alarm, a dropped connection, a hardware failure — tell the proctor immediately: incidents are logged and handled under the examination administration process rather than counted silently against you.

When you finish, your responses are submitted for marking and your result follows the published process. Treat the formally issued result as the authoritative one, whatever appears on screen at the end of the sitting.

Common questions

Booking, rescheduling and hiccups

Can I reschedule my sitting?

Yes, within the published booking terms. The earlier you rearrange, the more flexibility you have — leaving it late narrows your options.

What if my connection drops mid-exam?

Reconnect and follow the proctor's instructions. The interruption is logged, and genuine technical failures are handled fairly — up to and including a fresh sitting where the disruption was material.

Remote or test centre — which is better?

Neither is easier: the exam and rules are identical. Choose the environment where you personally concentrate best, and where the practical requirements are easiest for you to meet.

Preparation check

Ready-to-book means

You have read the examination rules (identity, environment, what is permitted at your desk), confirmed any accommodations are approved and attached, and your dashboard shows the scheduling entitlement with its 12-month deadline.

Pick a slot that respects your preparation curve, not the calendar’s pressure — the entitlement is yours for the window, and a fortnight of targeted revision against your weakest domains outperforms an early sitting taken to "get it done".
