The recertification cycle asks you to stay active in the discipline and to keep your knowledge current — particularly as AI tools and governance expectations evolve faster than any single exam can capture.
The requirement is designed to be achievable through normal professional practice and continuing development, not to create busywork. Keeping the credential valid signals to employers and clients that your competence — including how you govern AI in your work — is up to date, not frozen at the moment you first passed.

What is the recertification / renewal fee?
The recertification / renewal fee is USD 99 per three-year renewal cycle, subject to applicable PCI renewal and membership requirements. Keeping membership active may be required to maintain access to member resources and applicable credential services.
How much CPD will recertification require?
The required hours and activities will be published with the recertification rules before any holder reaches renewal.
What happens if my credential lapses?

Build a CPD record that stands up to audit
The most common CPD failure is not doing too little development — it is doing plenty and being unable to evidence it at renewal. Treat your record as a live document you maintain through the cycle, not a year-end reconstruction from memory.
Log as you go
Record each activity within days: what it was, when it happened, and roughly how long it took. Entries reconstructed at renewal are the ones most likely to struggle under an audit sample.
Keep proportionate evidence
Certificates for formal learning; agendas or notes for informal learning; for on-the-job development, a short description of the work with anything commercially sensitive removed.

AI currency is not a certificate of attendance. It is the ability to defend an AI-assisted number today — to explain what a tool produced, what you checked, and why you accepted or overrode it. When the recertification rules publish the eligible activities, expect them to favour evidence of use and judgement over passive consumption.
While the rules are being finalised, the useful preparation is the same as good practice itself:
- Structured learning about how the tools you use behave — their limits and failure modes, not just their features
- Applying a governed AI workflow on live work, with named human-verification checkpoints consistent with the responsible AI framework
- Contributing to internal review or assurance of AI-assisted outputs, in line with the human oversight principle
- Keeping short notes on cases where you overrode or corrected an AI-generated output, and why
