Does membership make me certified?
No — membership and certification are deliberately separate. Membership is professional affiliation, community and development; it confers no credential and gives no advantage in the exam. The PCL-AI credential is earned only through independent assessment of your competence. Keeping the two distinct is what allows each of them to mean something honest.
What will it cost?
Final categories and fees are published before membership or certification opens. Pricing is set deliberately, with the aim of keeping the credential accessible while sustaining an independent, properly-run certification body. We would rather confirm fees clearly in advance than advertise figures we might later have to change.

Benefits only matter if you use them. Members who get the most from any professional body treat membership as working infrastructure for their development, not a line on a CV. A simple pattern works well:
Plan a CPD year, not CPD points
Pick two or three development themes at the start of the year — forecasting methods, say, or the governed use of AI — and choose activities against them. The CPD framework is easier to satisfy when your learning has a direction.
Read with intent
Use the knowledge hub to solve a live problem on your current project rather than browsing generally. Applied reading sticks; passive reading does not.
Show up
Join chapter sessions and discussions when they run. The compounding benefit of membership is the peer network, and it only builds through participation.

Log development activities as they happen, with a sentence on what changed in your practice. A record kept in real time takes minutes; one reconstructed later takes days.
Benefits across grades — and as your career moves
The core benefits — community, resources, development support and updates — are common to every grade. What changes is emphasis. Student membership leans toward orientation and learning the discipline. Associate supports people actively working toward the credential. Professional supports those who hold it and need to keep it current. Fellow recognises sustained contribution — and asks for it in return, through mentoring and committee work. Can I move between grades as my career progresses?
Yes. Grades describe where you are now, not a permanent classification. As you gain experience or earn the credential, you apply to move to the grade whose criteria you meet; the membership policy sets out how transitions are assessed. Nothing is lost in moving — your membership history carries with you.
Will the benefits change as PCI develops?
They will grow. PCI is in its founding phase, and the benefit set will expand as the institute matures — more resources, more chapter activity, more events. New benefits are announced when they exist, not before: the page you are reading describes what membership offers today, and PCI would rather under-promise than overstate.
