Terms of Enrolment.
The terms that govern PCI student membership and enrolment. Please read these alongside the Privacy Policy and applicable PCI candidate and member policies.
What enrolment provides
Enrolment provides student membership access and access to the PCI student panel. Certification, examination, credential award, and registry listing are subject to separate eligibility, assessment, verification, and applicable PCI policies.
Founding-stage status
PCI is a professional certification institute. Its framework is being developed with reference to ISO/IEC 17024 personnel-certification principles. PCI is not currently ISO/IEC 17024 accredited.
Payment, refunds and cancellation
Fees and the terms attached to them are confirmed at the point of purchase. Payment is processed by a secure third-party payment gateway; PCI does not store raw card details. Refund and cancellation eligibility depends on the membership purchased and the circumstances, and is handled in line with the terms presented at checkout and the Refund Policy. Where a payment is not completed, membership is not activated. If a payment is later refunded or reversed — for example by a card chargeback or dispute — any unused examination entitlement it granted is revoked and the membership it funded ends; a credential you have already earned by passing an examination is retained, and an examination you have already sat is not refunded on that basis. Statutory cooling-off rights and the treatment of immediate digital access are set out in the Refund Policy.
Your account and security
On successful payment, a student account is created and you are sent a secure link to set your own password. For security, PCI does not email plain permanent passwords. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for the activity on your account.
Acceptable use
Student membership and panel access are for your individual professional use. Resources provided through the panel are made available for your own learning and preparation and may not be redistributed.
Certification is separate
Membership does not grant certification, exam pass status, accreditation, or credential registry listing. Certification, examination, credential award and registry listing are subject to separate eligibility, assessment, verification and applicable PCI policies, including the candidate handbook, code of ethics, and examination policies.
Changes
PCI is a institute and its programmes are developing. These terms, membership benefits and pricing may be updated; material changes will be communicated through the institute’s usual channels.
Governing law and disputes
Project Controls Institute Global, Inc. is a Delaware Non-Stock Corporation. These terms, and any dispute arising out of enrolment or membership, are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, and the state and federal courts located in Delaware have jurisdiction. Before any formal proceedings, please raise the matter through the complaints process so it can be resolved directly wherever possible. Nothing in this clause removes any mandatory consumer-protection right, or any right to bring proceedings in the courts of your own country, that the law of your home jurisdiction gives you as a consumer; where that law conflicts with this clause, it prevails to the extent it must.
Common questions
Does paying make me certified?
No — enrolment provides student membership and panel access only. Certification is separate and subject to assessment and PCI policies.
Are these terms the full agreement?
These terms apply together with the Privacy Policy and the applicable PCI candidate and member policies referenced throughout the site.
How do I cancel?
Contact support; cancellation is handled in line with the terms presented at checkout for your membership.
Responsibilities of an enrolled student
Enrolment is an agreement with obligations on both sides. PCI's are set out across these terms; yours are few, but they matter:
- Provide accurate information at registration and keep your details current
- Keep your login confidential — access is personal and not for sharing
- Use panel materials for your own learning; do not redistribute them
- Describe your status accurately: “PCI student member” is correct; anything implying certification is not
- Meet the conduct expectations that apply to all members under membership conduct
None of this is onerous — but breaches, particularly misrepresentation of status or redistribution of materials, are taken seriously because they affect every other member's trust in the framework.
Documents that work together with these terms
Privacy Policy
How your personal information is collected, used and protected throughout enrolment and membership — read it alongside the policy itself.
Refund Policy
How cancellation and refund eligibility work for the membership you purchased, applied with the terms presented at checkout — see the refund policy.
Membership conduct
The behaviour expected of every member, and what happens when it is not met.
Candidate and examination policies
These apply when you progress from student membership toward a PCI certification — eligibility, examination rules and the candidate handbook take over at that point.
Renewal, lapse and what you may say
What happens if I do not renew?
Access to student membership and the panel ends at the close of your paid term; nothing further is charged. Records are retained only as long as PCI's retention rules require, and you can re-enrol later — a lapse is not held against you.
What can I put on my CV or LinkedIn as a student member?
Exactly what you are: a student member of the Project Controls Institute, preparing for a PCI certification if that is the case. Do not use wording that implies certification, credential award or registry listing before they have happened.
Can PCI change these terms after I enrol?
The terms can be updated as the programme develops, and material changes are communicated through the institute's usual channels before they take effect. The version published on this site is the version in force.
Keep going
What enrolment commits each side to
Enrolling commits us to deliver what the product page described — access, materials, examination entitlement and the stated scheduling window — under the policies in force when you enrolled. Material changes mid-cycle are announced and never retroactively reduce what you purchased.
It commits you to accurate declarations, the examination rules and the ethics code. Payment, refund and deferral specifics live in their own policies; where wording differs, the specific policy wins.
