Before you apply

Get the application right first time

Most delays in eligibility assessment come from incomplete evidence, not failed criteria. Before you send anything, work through this checklist:

  • Confirm your route. Check the eligibility requirements and decide whether you are applying on the experience route or via the Foundation pathway — the evidence differs.
  • Assemble evidence once, properly. Roles, dates and responsibilities should be consistent across everything you submit; discrepancies trigger follow-up questions.
  • Read the Code of Ethics before agreeing to it. Your agreement is a professional commitment, not a checkbox.
  • Raise accommodation needs now. Requests under the special accommodations policy are easiest to arrange when made at application, not at exam booking.
After submission

What happens to your application

Submissions are acknowledged promptly. Your application then goes through eligibility assessment against the published criteria — an evidence check, not a judgement of merit. There are three possible outcomes: you are confirmed eligible and invited to proceed towards examination booking; more information is requested, with a clear description of what is missing; or you are advised that you are not yet eligible, with the specific gap identified so you know exactly what to build towards. Eligibility decisions relate only to entry requirements — they say nothing about your likely exam performance, and being found eligible guarantees nothing about the result. Once confirmed, familiarise yourself with the exam structure before booking.

Keep copies of everything you submit. If a question comes back during assessment, answering from the same documents avoids introducing the small inconsistencies that slow applications down more than anything else.

Common questions

Application questions, answered

What if I am not yet eligible?

You will be told which requirement is unmet. Nothing is lost — build the missing experience or complete the Foundation route, then reapply when the gap is closed.

Can I apply while my evidence is still incomplete?

It is better to wait. An application with gaps generates back-and-forth that takes longer than assembling the evidence first. If you are unsure whether something counts, ask before applying via hello@projectcontrolsinstitute.org.

Does requesting an accommodation affect assessment?

No. Accommodations adjust how you sit the examination, never what is assessed or how it is scored, and requests are handled in confidence.

Before you apply

Have these ready

Applications go fastest with three things prepared: your professional history against the eligibility requirements (roles, dates, responsibilities — verifiable, not embellished), a current email you control, and payment method if you intend to enrol immediately after eligibility confirmation.

Declarations are sampled for verification, and accuracy is itself a conduct matter — an honest borderline application will always be treated better than an inflated one. Borderline? Ask first; pre-checking costs nothing.

Stay in the loop

Who can sit it, and why the route is open.
